Purpose: The Teacher creates a positive learning environment to facilitate students' personal, social-emotional, and intellectual development and growth. To respond to students' individual needs and abilities, the Teacher will work closely with the building administration and support staff. 

 

Reports To: Building Principal

 

FLSA Status: Exempt

 

Required Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education
2. Valid Kansas Teaching License 
3. Health and Innoculation Certificate on file in the District Office (after an employment offer is made)

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Master's Degree in the field of education
2. Three-plus years of certified teaching experience
3. Excellent communication, organizational, and collaboration skills
4. Ability to foster a positive learning environment

Essential Functions: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily:

• Facilitate the personal, social-emotional, and intellectual development of students
• Create and maintain a positive learning environment for all students
• Teach with an understanding and respect for the individuality of each student
• Teach with scrupulous regard for honesty and accuracy without distortion or falsification
• Conduct instructional programs in a manner consistent with the curricular objectives of the course
• Adhere strictly to professional ethics
• Prepare completely and adequately to carry out their responsibilities for all students within their classroom
• Perform the necessary administrative work related to the assignment, including but not limited to completion of all reports required by the District
• Attend all staff conferences and individual conferences between teacher and administrator and is available for pupil and parent conferences, including conferences for writing IEPs and staffing for special education
• Supervise students in and around the school building, including before and after the school day, as assigned by the building principal
• React positively to change and frequent interruptions in an educational environment
• Assist in the early recognition and prevention of education problems
• Monitor student progress and make informed and timely educational decisions for student success
• Ensure that substitute teachers will have adequate direction and lesson plans
• Conduct tasks such as planning, grading, and parent communications
• Undertake efforts that promote professional growth in alignment with the District’s vision, mission, and goals
• Report all cases of suspected child abuse or neglect
• Observe, enforce, and is directed by the policies, rules, and regulations adopted by the school district
• Attend programs designed for the involvement of parents, students, and community patrons when school is not in session, as determined by the school building administration
• Assume responsibility for keeping parents informed between grading periods when pupil performance is less than satisfactory or when performance deviates from reasonable expectation for an individual pupil
• Keep student information and records confidential
• Have regular routine attendance at work
• Carries out the duties and responsibilities as assigned by the administration

1. Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time
2. Ability to enter data into a computer, to see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids

4. Ability to speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in normal classrooms, outdoors and on the telephone
5. Physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds to shoulder height and 50 pounds to waist height
6. Ability to bend, stoop, sit on the floor, climb stairs, walk and reach overhead

Terms of Employment: A 187-day contract under the Negotiated Agreement (finished for the remainder of the 2025/26 school year, with the potential to continue to next school year).
