Position: Full-Time School Bus Driver

 

Qualifications:                   

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
• Must hold a valid state-issued CDL-Class B Drivers’ License with Endorsements P and S or reasonable assurance they will hold a CDL-Class B Drivers' License with Endorsements P and S by the start of the current school year. 
• Must be able to pass and maintain a DOT Physical
• Must be able to pass a DOT Drug screen and will be subject to random DOT drug testing  
• Complete and pass an American Red Cross First Aid/ CPR course.
• Pass pre-employment alcohol/drug screening test.
• Will be subject to random drug/ alcohol testing programs.

 

Reports To: Director of Transportation and Maintenance

 

FLSA Status:  Non-Exempt 

  

Essential Functions:  

• Obeys all traffic laws and safety regulations for school buses
• Practices good public relations practices and is a positive representative of the school system
• Keeps assigned bus clean
• Checks bus before and after each operation for mechanical defects
• Checks all buses for gas, oil, washing (cleaning inside and out), and report other mechanical failures to the Director of Transportation & Maintenance.
• Transports only authorized students
• Enforces district behavior code for bus drivers
• Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information
• Supervises students and maintains discipline when on the bus
• Assist with minor maintenance and grounds projects within the district 
• Reports all accidents and completes required reports
• Performs such other related duties as assigned by the district administration

Terms of Employment:  Salary and work schedule to be determined by the Board.

 

Evaluation:  Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board’s policy and Classified Handbook.
