Job Description

 

Purpose: The Lunchroom Aide supervises and assists students, staff, and visitors in the lunchroom during lunch service. Additionally, they will assist with cleaning and maintaining the lunchroom areas for safety, sanitation, and presentation.

 

Reports To: Building Principal  

 

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, Hourly ($15.00 - $27.13 per hour, 2.5-hour work day)

 

Required Qualifications:     

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to interact in a positive manner with children and adults
  • Health and Inoculation Certificate on file in the District Office (after an employment offer is made)

Essential Functions:  To successfully perform this job, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.

  • Act as a role model to students while in lunchroom areas
  • Oversee students during lunch and recess periods, enforcing appropriate student behavior and ensuring a safe and orderly environment
  • Immediately report incidents, injuries, and significant behavioral concerns to the supervisor
  • Attend to students' physical, personal, academic, and emotional needs
  • Take all reasonable precautions to protect students, facilities, equipment, and materials
  • Attend meetings, in-service, and professional development as assigned
  • Follow all federal, state, Board, and district policies and procedures
  • Demonstrate cooperation and flexibility in performing other related duties as assigned by the principal
  • Maintain regular and routine attendance at work

  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to bend, stoop, sit on the floor, climb stairs, walk, and reach overhead
  • Ability to hear and understand speech at normal classroom levels, outdoors, and on the telephone
  • Ability to speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in normal classrooms, outdoors, and on the telephone
  • Physical agility to lift 25 pounds to shoulder height and 50 pounds to waist height
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Ability to enter data into a computer, to see and read a computer screen, and printed material with or without vision aids

Terms of Employment: 10 month at-will employment. The Board will determine salary and work schedule.

 

Evaluation:   Performance evaluations in accordance with the Board's policy and the Classified Employee Handbook.
