Position: Substitute School Bus Aide
Qualifications:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Complete and pass a physical examination bi-annually as prescribed by The Kansas Highway Commission Safety Department.
- Complete and pass an American Red Cross First Aid/ CPR course.
- Will be subject to a pre-employment alcohol/drug screening test.
- Will be subject to random drug/ alcohol testing program.
Reports To: Transportation Supervisor
Position Purpose: To supervise students so they may enjoy the fullest possible advantage from the district’s curricular and extracurricular program.
Essential Functions: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential
function satisfactorily.
- Helps students on and off the bus.
- Goes in the school if the student does not come out. DO NOT call the central office to call the school.
- Knows the bus route.
- Supervises students and helps with control on the bus.
- Sits in the back of the bus so you can observe/supervise all students.
- Helps substitute drivers so they will understand where to go and in what order.
- Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information.
- Performs such other related duties as assigned by the Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent.

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk and hear. The employee is required to use hands and fingers. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk and reach with hands and arms.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Terms of Employment: Salary and work year to be determined by the Board.
Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Classified Personnel.
